Solar energy is getting a big boost in Southern California with the unveiling of two projects that will be capable of generating a total of 500 megawatts of electricity, enough to serve more than 300,000 homes.

I'd like to see that as '65 Billion' at some point. To put it in perspective, 65 million square feet is roughly:
1492 acres/603 hectares/2.3 sq. miles/6 sq. kilometers.
I'd say California alone could easily accommodate thousands of times that area in solar panels.
